Ethylene Oxide Prices Rise in August-September: Geopolitical Factors and Supply Chain Impacts

In September 2026, the conflict between the United States and Iran intensified, causing a fluctuation in oil prices and a sharp fluctuation in ethylene oxide market prices. Brent crude broke through the USD100 mark.

This conflict caused the market to concern about the tight supply of the global ethylene oxide industry chain, supply for ethylene, ethylene glycol, polycarboxylate superplasticizer, monothanolamine, diethanolamine, ethylene oxide derivatives and other chemical products increased by different levels. The ethylene oxide market supply, with the price increase accelerating sharply. The industrial shortage of ethylene oxide supply has become the core driving force for the continuous rise in this cycle.

Production Restrictions and Regional Supply Variation

The production of ethylene oxide has been affected by maintenance in the three Jiangsu and Yinchuan, Taiyuan, Yangquan chemical plants, and Huainan.
